sup fam, i have a few sample tie dye t-shirts to share.

i had found some old dye craft supplies and ordered a few fresh heavy weight tees to work on. probably should practice more on old shirts but i rather keep it fresh in case you guys want a early sample or something. but for some techniques i'll definitely practice on throw away shirts as some designs are hard to produce, like character shapes/bodies.

the blue and purple base sample tie dye shirts were finished with the ice method. Basically, you contain the shirt after binding your design, and layer powered dye with ice on top on the shirt. good to pre plan your melt containment, as you can reuse the dye that drains.
i really like how the purple one came out, was surprised how well it rendered. The blue one is a little off center but all good really, keep it grungy/distorted.

as for the pink/orange/???-ish shirt, i used the fan method. Where you fold the shirt or garment like a oriental fan, bind and tie dye accordingly. That one is different from traditional spiral or mandala effects, showcasing that you really can wing it or freestyle. As usual with art etc.

thinking of doing more intricate designs like the stoner tie dye fam on tiktok and ig. you may have seen some of those videos if you're into artsy stuff. also thinking to align more with the grunge and goth aesthetics, less of the hippie stoner tie dye; something different less rules or traditional rendering.

i think i used rit dye for these, which is totally normal for this application. that dye is cheap but works and holds color well on cotton t-shirts. jeans wash out really fast, so i typically only use rit for shirt work. in time i'll post more samples of tie dye and garment works. Years ago i was really into indigo fabric dye and alteration with jeans/denim and recently i've seen the zoomers appreciate the styles/aesthetics we and gen x made popular. so lets keep the wearable art flowing too, anon.
